Spera Boerdery ("spera" meaning "hope!") is a small family farm in the fertile Little Karoo - currently under joint management of the fourth and fifth generations of the Van der Merwe-family. We are committed to producing high-quality fruit. Moreover, we strive to farm in a sustainable and ecologically friendly manner. Spera Boerdery participates in a number of initiatives introduced by the fresh fruit industry. We also value social involvement and contribute to the education and training of our workers whenever possible. Spera Boerdery continuously seeks to improve labour and agricultural practices that will have a greater impact on the safety of workers, the environment and our produce. As an example of this, a strategy of biological plant and product protection and soil enhancement has been introduced since 2008 with great success.
